Samsung Series 7 XE700T1C-H01ZA Tablet PC

Remember how Samsung said that they’d be leaving the laptop market, at least in Europe and South Africa (as well as a few other places)? Yeah, they actually said that but they’ve pulled a slight fast one on all of us, perhaps. That’s because while it is indeed harder to get your hands on a laptop computer from Samsung these days, they’ve come out with a few other options for us to play with.

Options like the Series 7 XE700T1C-H01ZA Tablet PC, a member of the ATIV line of products which nonetheless is a tablet at its core. Except it can also be a PC if it wants to. That’s due in part of the addition of a keyboard cover for the XE700T1C, which makes this 11.6-inch, FHD (1920 x 1080) tablet into a complete notebook. Well, it looks like one, anyway. But Samsung have made the specs for the tablet portion, where all the hardware is hosted, a little larger than the average 11.6-incher. For starters, you’ve got a Core i5 3317U processor running at 1.7GHz under the hood, along with 4GB of DDR3 RAM. That’s a full notebook worth of specs on its own. Intel’s HD Graphics 4000 solution is also hosted inside (somehow) as well as a 64GB SSD for your storage needs as well as an S-Pen, stereo speakers and a webcam. So yeah, all the bits and pieces are in place.

There’s also a full complement of ports to play with. Micro HDMI, USB 3.0, a multi-card reader, audio and mic jacks as well as a docking port are arranged along the edges, while connectivity is continued with WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 support. So Samsung might claim that the XE700T1C is just a tablet but we know a little better. They’ve just found a way to shrink their notebooks. And we’re okay with that.
