D-Link DWA-182/EU

You have to go out and get yourself some of that AC wireless standard. All of the cool kids are doing it, after all. But while the latest tablets and smartphones are coming equipped with 802.11 AC, as well as more than a few routers, it’s often difficult to justify replacing those devices just to enjoy faster wireless speeds. Often difficult doesn’t mean impossible, though. It’s relatively easy to turn a notebook or desktop computer into a wireless AC-supporting gadget with the simple addition of one of D-Link’s DWA-182/EU dongle units. And, as we all know, a desktop or notebook is usually the most expensive piece of tech in the average home. But now you don’t have to shell out another 30 grand for a new notebook. The D-Link DWA-182/EU plugs into Windows XP, 7 or 8 machines and confers 802.11 AC capabilities on the computer in question over a USB 3.0 connection. What this means is that you’re going to be looking at max speeds of up to three times that of 802.11 N. That’s nothing to sneeze at. Of course, the D-Link DWA-182/EU is also backwards compatible so if you do have older wireless devices, it’ll also play nice with those. It’ll play nice, in addition, with any security standard that you are using in your home nextwork, from WPA (which can be set up at the touch of a button) to WEP, and WPA 2. Now… might be a nice time to ask yourself why you don’t have an AC-standard setup in your home yet. There’s certainly nothing stopping you.
