D-Link is best known for their network products, like routers and modems as well as a vast array of switches and other high-end network gear. But they’re also making a name for themselves in the field of mobile data connection, with modems and routers on that front being an attractive buy. Which brings us to their next foray, and it makes a lot more sense than you’d think. Meet the D-Link DCS-825L EyeOn Baby Monitor. Weird, right? Not really, since this piece of baby-monitoring kit is designed to slot straight into a home network, preferably one that is powered by D-Link. It’s a logical extension of the networking products that they’re known for. So what are you getting here? It’s a 1280 x 720 network camera, which is able to track your baby day and night, with infra-red for the latter. It’s got an 802.11 N wireless connection, takes a microSD for storage of video footage and photos and it’ll even play lullabies. And no matter if you have a boy or girl, the coloured accents are interchangeable. The DCS-825L EyeOn has intelligent monitoring features, like sound alerts for when the baby is crying, motion and temperature sensors, two-way audio and the ability to SMS users to keep them abreast on notifications. It can also be controlled remotely with a D-Link app on either an iPhone or iPad, as well as Android devices. If you’re going to keep an eye on the kids from a distance, this is the kit you need.
