D-Link DNS-340L

Sharing is caring, we’re sure that you’ve heard that saying before. It’s true as well, if you’re able to share then life tends to get a whole lot better a whole lot faster than you’d think. That’s certainly the case with the D-Link DNS-340L, a four-bay network enclosure that functions as a cloud storage device. Why would you want the D-Link DNS-340L? Well, if you’ve got four high-capacity hard drives then you’re looking at a secure home cloud backup system when those drives are set up in a selection of RAID configurations. Long story short, you won’t be losing any of the data that you deem essential (but keep an offsite backup too, just in case). But there’s also the option to check out a RAID-less setup, which will result in you utilising all of that storage – rather than just a portion of it – for file distribution. Perfect for a media server that will offer up movies and music to every single device in your home, if that’s your thing. You movie junkie you. The D-Link DNS-340L supports drives up to 4TB in size, giving you a theoretical maximum of 16TB to play with. That’s a lot of storage by anyone’s standards. Except this one guy we know… Anyway… the D-Link DNS-340L is extremely easy to set up and maintain, comes with a built-in media server (see? We weren’t kidding) and can be integrated into external devices, letting you remotely share a printer, external drive or add a UPS to the whole configuration. It’s a bit like having your very own Dropbox. And that’s always a nifty little solution.
