D-Link DWR-730/EEU3GG

3G is the current saviour of a whole lot of business folks, giving users access to a data connection when there are no wires. Either Telkom hasn’t gotten their stuff together or you’re just out in the middle of nowhere. But what do you do if you’ve got a single 3G data card and multiple devices? A wireless router capable of connecting more than one device using a SIM card would be your best bet. Take the D-Link DWR-730, for example. It’ll make use of a single data-enabled SIM card and connect to multiple wireless device with ease using an 802.11 b/g connection. It’ll also connect to Wireless N devices, but you’ll get the best possible connection speeds of the b/g options instead of 802.11 N. But you’ll have HSPA+ download speeds going for you, which is great. It’s extremely portable, fitting into your pocket along with your cellular phone, and contains its own battery (rechargeable, of course) so you won’t have to go hunting for a wall socket every time you want to get online. The D-Link DWR-730 charges using a USB 2.0 connection and also comes fitted with a microSD card slot, so you can use it to store data for sharing between wireless devices as well. It has a built in firewall, NAT, supports uPNP and DLNA and also supports the major encryption standards: WEP, WPA, WPA2 and WPS. In short, it contains everything that you’d expect from a great desktop router except that it carries its own internet connection and weighs in at just 77 grams. Not too shabby at all.
